Works Manager - Basil
Peter and Karen Crommelin commenced the breeding operation of Elite Warmbloods in 1999 with the acquisition of their first Hanoverian mare Kinnordy Gesina. The aim of the program was to use premium mares, preferably those that had been performance tested with the HHSA or AWHA or had themselves been proven in the competition field and to then use the best quality stallions suited to those mares to breed elite quality foals principally for performance in the dressage arena.

As mares contribute approximately 60% of the genetics, Peter and Karen believe that it is of the utmost importance to use the best possible mare base. The business name derives from Peter and Karen's underlying aim to produce elite mares via performane testing or competition ultimately for use in their breeding program. They have produced two Australian Warmblood Horse Association elite mares via competition in the dressage arena, Belcam Aabbey and Argentille Germaine. Aabbey sadly passed away in 2010 but she leaves behind her daughter Laayla, by Lauries As, whom we will cherish. They have also bred and performance tested two mares with the Hanoverian Horse Society of Australia who have acheived elite status, Elite Galaxy and Elite PrimaDonna.
Mares used in the breeding program must conform to the more modern athletic type of sporthorse being bred in Germany and have good movement and temperament. Stallions chosen are Hanoverian or AWHA registered and where possible, frozen semen has been used to obtain the best quality German sporthorse genetics. Only three or four foals are bred every year so it allows intensive handling from an early age. This makes for tractable trainable temperaments and as many of these foals are destined for the amateur dressage rider, the majority of whom are women, Peter and Karen believe that it is essential that they are well handled from birth to develop the ground manners that will make them a pleasure to own as adult horses.
Mares and foals are supplementary fed to ensure optimum nutrition is achieved, laying the foundation for the strong bones necessary to make these foals sound and healthy dressage horses for the rest of their lives. They are reared in small herd groups and are well socialised with other horses.
